If your trailer is 16 inches high and you're loading a 5000 lb. tractor, which is close to the weight of a JD "G", the additional pull necessary to get the tractor up the ramps is determined by the length of the ramps as the length of the ramps determines the angle of incline. Using these figures and the use of vectors, a winch with capacity of 5500 lbs would be more than addiquate. But considering some unusual loading conditions and the fact that you might want to load a larger tractor, I'd go with at least a 6000 lb. capacity winch. rw
