I'd be real concerned about other stuff going on here. Mine had 168,000 on it and had the same problem, wouldnt start cold. As we have reconstructed it the injector pump pressure was low due to back plate damage from a failed lift pump. Over time and idling, the injector tips fouled which reduced the spray pattern and effectively advanced the timing. This caused the face of the head to overheat warping the head. I found it when I found oil in the radiator.
Net result was a reman head at 800 bucks, 200 bucks for the guy to help me, 600 for the injectors. Then, with new injectors the pump did not have adequate pressure to open them so I had to replace the pump, which parts and labor plus retorquing the head bolts and final adjusting the valves ran a cool 2200. Then, with the engine back up to snuff, the clutch started slipping which tacked on another 450 parts and labor. A little over 4 grand in a truck with 170,000 miles. If I had it to do over I would have taken them up on all the offers and traded it in on a new one. The 4 grand, plus another thousand in the front end added to the wholesale value of 10 grand is half way to a new one or better than half way to a 1/2 ton with a gas engine.
