Also, throw about 4 or 5 tablespoons of TSP, tri sodium phosphate on a good bed of coals [so it all don't just blow out the chimney - and has time to loosen the creosote.] Afterwards run it hot for a while to blow it out. Can get it at hardware stores etc in small tubs about a quart size. A friend from west Tenn. said they would see chimney fires all over on rainy February days from people cleaning their chimneys. Made me shudder at the thought! I caught mine on fire once burning a cereal box in it....gave me a good scare!
