Was pulling a 16 home made trailer down US HWY 60 about 5 years ago. I looked back and it was gone. Dang near took the next left to head home and look in the paper for a new tailer cause I did not want to know where it was or who in was on. Went back looking and it was in a hay field aobut 50 yards off the road. It went off about a 4 foot high bank on the left side of the road, went trough the field, bounced off an oak tree and came to rest with the hitch suck in a woven wire fence with about 12 red angus heifers sniff'n it.
I had been in a hurry, did not hook up the safty chains, and must have bumped the little hair pin that held in the pin that holds the hitch to the recever and it vibrated out after 30 miles.
I have not pulled any thing on the highway since that did not have the chains hooked and I only use a pin that has a lock on it.
