Depends on what kinda yield you can expect and what it will cost you.
This year I had $100/acre in seed and spray on beans, $34/acre to harvest and haul, made almost 41 bu/acre, sold for $8.75. My farm payment works out to $181.25/acre/year. So I did not make much off the beans this go round. Better than the money I lost on corn. With the imputs and farm payment I broke even on 40 acres of beans and 15 acres of corn. With calf prices in the 70's right now, tobacco is the only thing I am going to make a red cent on this year. The 20% cut I took in my contract for next year is a kick in the sack I did not need this winter. (Guess that means I don't have to cuss as much when help don't show up.)
