I have two daughters- age 25 & 32. When they were learning to drive, I taught them some of the basics of maintenance- check oil, check tranny fluid, spare tire, etc. Before they could take the car solo for the first time, they had to show me how to change a tire. I had them actually look at the owners manual, take the spare out, jack up the car, take off a tire, and put it back on. This was before cell phones were as popular and affordable. Was easier to wait up for them, but not easy. Cells made a world of difference. Actually got a little sleep. old bones

While I love straightening sheet metal, cleaning, and painting old tractors, I use every excuse to avoid working on the on the electrics. I find the whole process sheer mystery.
