Well, I've been a ham radio operator for over 30 years, there are two other hams in this house. I have taught electrical engineering and avionics on the college level. Also worked in land mobile service. (I tell you this to establish that I know a bit about radio and electronics.)
Now - digital is probably more efficient, and they can get more bang for the bucks. BUT with digital, you have to have a perfect signal. Otherwise it breaks up and drops out. With analog you can put up with a little snow. Digital is long gone. We live in a fringe area, and there's only so much you can do with antennas, preamps, etc. I'm afraid that this digital revolution is going to be a major disappointment. Already looks like we're going to loose several stations, and one complete network. Putting it on hold while the govt. catches up will only prolong the misery. When the finally do throw the switch, there's going to be a bunch of unhappy viewers, trust me on that!
