Here is what I know: It is as you think. The round bar shaped "axle" with the square loop sits. vertically so the top of the loop is up high. The wooden toung would be about 5X4" at the rear tapering to about 3X3 at 8 to 9 feet. The double tree (metal components with pivots go behind each draft animal. the center of which attaches to the toung and is under it. The springs and wishbone shaped rod support the cultivator gange and take weight off of the operator (it is walk behind) The traces from the harnesses on eash animal attach to the single trees (on each end of the double tree rigging. Several small parts and iron fittings are to guide and limit travel of hitch parts, and provide adjustment. We had that frame, and wheel setup with shovel gangs instead of spring tooth. I never used it behind anything but an H. or 350U. I hope this helps some, JimN
