Banjo, Our nearest TV stations are 90 miles + , so I was really worried about losing local news and weather from the local stations. I understand that many stations that are still broadcasting on both analog and digital are running lower power on the digital feed until they go 100% digital on Feb 17. The two locals that have gone to 100% digital and full power give us a better picture than they had when on analog. I was worried that off air digital TV might blank out like my Dish satellite TV does when there is a lot of rain or snow in the air, but in a couple of winter snow storms that killed Dish, still had the off air digital TV channels working fine. I hope that continues so we can depend on them (off air DTV)for weather reports in bad weather.
I suspect the off air (antenna) DTV broadcasts tollerate more snow or rain in the air because they operate at a much lower frequency than satellite TV's 12 GHz. It looks like our area will get atleast 3 times as many channels because of the switch to DTV.
