Have good ventilation and it can be welded. With a stick welder, use 6010 or 6011 rods to burn through the zinc. MIG will work but grind the area clean before any welding. Inhaling the fumes can cause Zinc chills. A respirator with a filter made for welding fumes would do a lot more than a dust mask. They aren't too expensive and will fit under a welding helmet. Dave
