I know this sounds crazy, but I had a friend who was having the same kind of problems with his GM car and they fixed it when they removed the loose change from his ash tray. Seems he used a radar detector or cell phone hooked to the cig lighter and didn't replace the lighter. He threw his change in the ash tray and a penny or whatever fell into the lighter opening and was causing the trouble. If that's not it I vote for the ground idea!
