Shifting Difficulty On '52 8N

I'm having a heck of a time shifting gears on my 8N. I either need to pull forward a ways or engage/disengage the clutch a couple of times before I can get it out of gear. I hate to force it out of gear. Same situation for the PTO engagement lever. Any ideas? Many thanks. Andrew.
