I've got Wild Blue, for one more day, which provides satellite internet for Dish. I hate it. It is faster than dial up and the service is pretty reliable. Fog is the only thing that messes me up, or a heavy mist.

At the high rate, its comparable to cable, at the low rate it compares to DSL, at least in my experience. I got fed up with the bandwidth issue and the cost. Time Warner is close to me with cable and I'd rather give them what extra Id spend over 3-4 years than give it to Wild Blue. It may not be an option for you, but, to me, satellite would be a last resort.
