Koehler fuel pump-time to replace?

Hi Guys!
Case 220 lawn tractor,single cylinder, air cooled, 10-12 hp? that has been loafing for years...Now I'm running her hot & hard...bush hogging. Using oil, pretty heavy... tried "Carb-
Out" in fuel with no noticable results.. still I'm thinking I'm getting poor compression...
Anyways, Here's the problem ( please excuse the rambling, but I thought that might have been pertanent ). After a while, the engine exhibits symptoms of fuel starvation...it bogs down, and eventually will stall even under no load. If I let it cool down a bit, I can restart it with full choke. I'm thinking that the fuel pump is getting so hot that the gas is vapourizing, resulting in no further fuel pumping...
Now then...Does this mean that the fuel pump is pooched, or do I need to improve engine cooling otherwise?
For those not familiar, This Case, by design ,has very poor air flow through the engine.
