when you ask about valves directly above the tank i am thinking you are talking about the fuel tank inside the left rear wheel.I dont have a manual for the 1086 but the 1486 book says those are the pressure control valves and should be what operates the remote couplers.when i mentioned the valves under the seat i was in reference to a 1456 and the 1086 is differant
