It is possible that you have changed the polarity of the battery. You need to take a multimeter and verify that the battery polarity matches the terminal posts. If it is wrong you will need to totally dischage the battery and then rechage it with the polarity set correctly. Regardless of what you find with the battery polarity, you will need to polarize the generator to make certain that it matches the battery.
