Nancy: I have read your post and I have also read most of the other posts. There is one real problem that no one has related to. First I am not a tree lover but I do not approve of some one seizing property. That being there is too many “Wanta be” cowboys & traders out there that do not realize how much feed and care animal take. The animal they are usually in trouble before they get them. They buy the poorest, cheapest feed they can afford which is really trash. They do not check them daily. Basically it gets down to who is going to protect the animal. In our state it is the sheriff. Yes, someone has to complain to him. I got turned in by some one time. Had a great old show dairy cow. She had been born and was sixteen years old. Had a small lush pasture that she was retired to. It had water and shade and was where we could watch her. We knew she was weak but took grain to her and made sure she had hay and gave her medication, We knew what had to be done but it was our animal and we were giving her care and it was going to be at out time and our place. One morning I noticed the sheriffs care pulled on the shoulder of the highway and he was walking toward old Tony. I hurried over to her and Sherriff said, “Somebody signed a complaint you were abusing the cow I can see you are not. I was mad and asked who it was. The answer was “I will take care of them”. The next day we had a backhoe and a Vet come. The Vet administered IV and she just went to sleep and is buried in that spot.I will say this: If some of you hard***** people want to own animal be prepared to take care of them.
