Mike - Most tractors of that era were wired up pretty much the same. This diagram is a typical Delco set-up (used on a majority of 6 volt tractors). Chances are your Avery was wired close to this - it should at least help you get started. Possible changes: 1 - This diagram has the heavy manual pushbutton start switch mounted directly on the starter. If you have a separate remote switch, then run one cable from the battery "-" terminal to the switch, and a second cable from the switch to the starter terminal. 2 - Look for identification on the regulator terminals. One should be marked GEN, ARM or A. It gets connected to the ARM or A terminal on the generator. Another should be marked FLD or F. It goes to the FLD or F terminal on the generator. Next one should be marked BAT or B. It goes to the "-" connection on ammeter. Finally, if the regulator has only these 3 terminals, the wire going to L on the diagram should instead be connected to "-" terminal on the ammeter. Make sure the regulator base is fastened to a good ground too! For recommended wire/cable sizes, see the legend on the diagram. (Note - it's OK to use #10 everywhere - except of course for battery cables). Good luck! Bob M
