CUB CADET 73 WIRING DIAGRAM

Need some help with my wiring. The tractor will not charge the battery. I beleive the wiring is miss wired. When I place the postive terminal of a voltmeter on ground(housing of the generator) and the negative terminal on the field I get a positive reading. But placing them what seems to be the correct way I get a negative reading on the meter. CAN ANY ONE EMAIL ME (AEADS23@AOL.COM) WITH A WIRING DIAGRAM ?
