I am very familiar with Americorps. Barbara Streisand and others are the Board of Directors. It is an organization very similiar to ACORN. They recruit college graduates to teach in inner cities for two yrs. after graduation. The interesting thing is that they do not want graduates TRAINED AS TEACHERS. They want people in pre-law, public adminstration, political science, sociology etc. It is designed to "indoctrinate" people who will then go on to law, government or college administration careers. It is eerily similiar to the "brown shirts" that Hitler used in Germany. It has been funded with billions this week to expand from 75,000 to 250,000 new recruits. Our daughter thought she wanted to join in 2004. We looked at their "operations" in three major cities...our daughter was not chosen...because she was a teacher ! She is now an excellent special ed teacher who will soon have her masters !!.....quote...."When an opponent declares, I will not come over to your side, I say, calmly, your child belongs to us already.....What are you ? You will pass on. Your descendants , however, stand in the new camp. In a short time they will know nothing but this new community....Adolph Hitler
