My wife got laid off in January. Luckily she found a better job after about 4 weeks. However, the biggest hassle has been insurance. We were on COBRA during this time and now are having a real hard time getting our health insurance back. She was on a three-way conference call yesterday for over an hour with the new insurance company, a COBRA rep and herself. The COBRA rep keeps telling the insurance company that we have been insured this whole time. The insurance company doesn't want to sign us up at a good rate because they suspect we have not been on any insurance plan. We are now signed up with insurance, but our name doesn't show up anywhere in the new insurance company's computer system. This is about the fourth conference call she's had with them. She keeps telling me that if we need an emergency room visit that we have insurance. I'm not so sure. Good luck with your new job search and I hope you have better insurance results than what we've had.
