The biggest city is New Orleans which is on the Mississippi River about 100 miles from the mouth of the river.
The largest farming area is the Northeastern part of the state. It is West of the Mississippi river and runs North and South. It is actually in the old river flood plane and is very rich soil where mostly cotton, corn and soy beans is grown. In the North Central part of the state peaches are a very important crop. In the Southwest (and also in the Northeast) sweet potatoes are grown. Sugar cane and rice are the predominate crops grown in South Louisiana. Throughout the state there is a lot of cattle farming also. Come on down and we'll show you around.
