Rob, it sounds to me like you don't have enough voltage to hold the selenoid in. Run a wire directly from the battery to it. Also make sure it has a good ground. Some of the things the battery ground has to go through to complete the circuit, dash, transmission housing, starter housing etc get pretty rusty after 50 years. Might make the difference between one turning over fast and one just turning over when you engage the starter. L8R----Fred
