I'm onto those plastic plenums. I think I'll save myself some future grief and replace it now. They're only like $130 for the kit and maybe 1.6 labor.
The '92 Olds 88 I'm replacing, also 3.8, has 238,000 miles on it, runs same as ever, and still doesn't use oil. As far as I'm concerned, GM's 3.8 is second only to the small block Chevy V8 on GM's list of alltime best engines. I once got rid of a Pontiac mini-van I really liked otherwise because I got tired of trying to keep ahead of coolant leaks on that no-account 3.4 engine.
