Furrow width too narrow in relation to depth, max depth is ussually around 60% of the furrow width. Shares too wide, when ploughing grassland, especally old stuff you need a lot narrower share than you can use in subble or other looser ground Is the plough pitched too far forward? the mouldboards will not work prperly if it is, adjust top link to suit The plough, when in work should appear level from all directions Check the disc coulter settings, you may have to run deeper than normal so the mouldboard starts to turn the furrow slice quickly, or it will lift the furrow straight up before turning it. Sometimes a bit of extra speed helps, if you are using a short board plough, which most American and Canaidian ploughs were, use tailpieces on the mouldboards. If your plough has adjustable moulboard stays these can be used to advantage.
