Bill, any soil sterialant will do the job for you, and depending on rainfall, it will prevent ANY growth for at least a year. The down side is that it has a tendancy to leach off target, and take out good trees, will get into ditches, and run quite a way, killing good trees. But if you are out in the middle of no where, then spike, velpar, hyvar, saraha, would be good choices. That cocktail that Burrhead suggested is also widely used here (LA) on right of ways, and won't leach as bad. Check with your county agent. Dave
