When I worked for a huge farmer that's the EXACT setup they used, a 4440 with a 12 row (30" spacing) planter. It seemed to be a good match, but 90 percent of the ground was flat as a pool table. They also had a 4640 that did some tillage work but was often left unused because it had 20.8's on the rear while the 4440's had 18.4's. The bigger tires just didn't work well with the 30" rows. I believe the 4640's and 4840's don't bring as much just for that reason.
