To help you you need tot tell us what you have. The last year an N series Ford was made was 1952. In 1953 they made the Jubilee and in 1954 they made the NAA and in 1955 they started with the 600/800 series so what do you have??????????????

While I love straightening sheet metal, cleaning, and painting old tractors, I use every excuse to avoid working on the on the electrics. I find the whole process sheer mystery. I have picked up and attempted to read every auto and farm electrics book with no improvement in the situation. They all seem to start with a chapter entitled "Theory of Electricity".
