I'm in the market for a small tractor (35-50 hp)in the $2000-$3500 price range. But, it seems that every time I think that I have found the perfect tractor someone tells me "ohhhh, you don't want that one" Now don't get me wrong....I'm thankful for the advice, but I need to know what I need to be looking for. I almost screwed up and bought a Ford Select-O-Matic...but thanks to the internet and a few tractor dealers I avoided that mistake. Today I found a 135 Massey Ferguson for 3000.oo and I mean it was sharp. The minute I showed the salesman which one I wanted he said..."ohhhh no, you don't want that one". He began to tell me that it was made in Europe and that the parts were not interchangeable with US MF's and that I may not be able to get parts for it. He said that There are many tractors that were made overseas and shipped here and that you have to know what you are looking for or you may get one of the overseas models. My question is...How do I know which ones are made overseas and which ones are US? He said there are certain model numbers that you want to avoid. I'm interested in Massey Fergueson, Ford, John Deere...If anyone out there knows which of these I should steer clear of please let me know. Thanks, Bert
