My dad runs a mowing business. We live in a rural area. What he found is most of the small in town stuff doesn't pay. Hard to have even a few grand in equipment and price with the neighbor boy who uses dads push mower and gets 5 bucks per yard..
I think he tries to figure around 45/hr mowing 25/hr trimming. Alot of the big jobs he'll look at it or even mow it once then give them a bid-so much per time. He'll try and price it so they'll go weekly, not once a month and your trying to mow a forest.
The weekend places are the best, either around lakes or hobby farms. People are willing to pay to not have to burn hours of their weekend mowing..
Whether you go weekly or by the job, you can't be afraid to ask your price, dad has a substantial investment in equipment, so like anything, it has to pay.
