To Joe and all: As viewed from the front and switching between a narrow front to a wide front, the stability can be IMPROVED just as soon as the center of the load goes below the PIVOT pin on a wide front. This can be easily shown with highschool vector analysis or just sit in front in a chair at eye level to the pivot pin of the wide front. Raise the load above the pin and then lower it well below the pivot pin. A heavy load slung BELOW the wide fronts pivot pin will add stability. This assumes same tractor rear end and a row crop type as in this string. Moral of the story: If I wanted the most stability, I would like many tons slung below the wide fronts pivot pin and held just off the ground a few inches.. You would need to force that layout to tip..Use vector analysis and draw it out on paper. harvey
