just swapped a 400 out for a 390 in a 77 F-350,,, bout the only thing I could use off the 400 was the power steering pump,,, even the brackets for the motor mounts that bolt to the chassis had to B swapped
I agree. It seems that there are very few parts that will interchange on a Ford. Like you said, if you're going to do an engine swap, you want the entire donor vehicle sitting handy. I swapped a 390 into a '71 that came with a 240. Even the foot accelerator pedal assembly had to be swapped out.
