Freeing oil rings

Hi All,

I have a 12hp Briggs on a Snapper mower that has set a long time. I've got it running good, but it uses a LOT of oil. The compression seems good, so I'm figuring the oil ring is stuck. I don't want to have to tear into it, so does anybody have a trick to free the ring up, like pouring something in the gas or oil?
