Allis manufactured a D19 LP version right along with a diesel and gasoline version. The D19 is a closely guarded secret. You can buy them for a song and yet they are a fine tractor. Better than and substantially more powerful than a D17 and yet they bring about the same price. Maybe parts are harder to get but they don't need much.

While I love straightening sheet metal, cleaning, and painting old tractors, I use every excuse to avoid working on the on the electrics. I find the whole process sheer mystery.
