Mike, Assuming the tall weed situation is only temporary, fabricate a box around the front. Make the box out of plywood or sheetmetal. Leave about 6 - 8 inches from the front of the grille to the inside front of the box. The box could be closed on the bottom, 2 sides and front. Leave it open at the top. Another suggestion is to fabricate a "U" shaped extension out the front of your tractor to push the weeds over before getting to the tractor. Just c-clamp it to the frame or front axle. I mow my neighbor's (an elderly widow) field about once a year. I will use my front loader and run it about 12" - 18" of the ground. This keeps the seed heads of the weeds from clogging my radiator.
