Credit card companies in my experience aren't much help. This year we had three rugs "cleaned" at the local cleaners for $322. They had not even been touched (dirt and sand still on them), just wrapped up, so we stopped payment through the credit card. The cleaners denied it and said we were just trying to get out of paying to hide the poor condition of the rugs. So the credit card people said "OK, sorry we can't help you". So much for credit card help. (Once I filed suit in small claims, though, the cleaners offered to do them "again" and this time they are clean).
