A good battery is around $80 these days, $100 for the alternator, and only a few bucks for the ground strap and taxes - I think you got away just fine.
Ha ha, repair bills around here have run in the thousands of dollars in the last few days... well, that is, if we were to fix everything.
Grain vac died - new blower = $4500 (not fixing this one!)
Truck brakes quit working on the tag axle, power steering pulley broke, parking brake worn out - haven't got the bill for that yet.
Hydraulic hose leaking on 2590 = $45
New pressure tank for the farm well - around $1200 plus labor to install it!
540 rpm PTO shaft for 4450 JD - $175
Doing this as a vacation from teaching - priceless.
