You need to make sure you don't have a vacuum leak, if it ran ok before installing rings your intake manifold may be leaking. If you have a main jet adjusting screw near the bottom of the carburetor you need to open that at least one full turn. If this doesn't help hold your hand over the throat of the carburetor and see if there's good suction. You will need a helper to do this. Poor suction indicates low intake manifold vacuum.
Did you check the ring gap on the new rings before installing them? If the sleeves were worn you may need a new sleeve kit. Did you use a glaze breaker on the old sleeves so the new rings have a new surface to seal into? Make sure your valves are set at .020" Cold. If the suction is low do a compression test on all the cylinders and compare the readings. Hal
