Before retireing sold oil for a major oil company. A customer had JD's and was buying there oil. I showed him on the bucket where it said distributed by JD. I told him to ask the JD dealer who was packageing their oil. He told me later it was Shell. That was 5 years ago. It could be a different company's oil today, but it will meet JD spec's. You will pay more for the same oil if it has JD, CIH or NH on the side of the bucket.
