IMHO... The real problem with covering anything for long periods if it is outdoors, is the moisture coming up off the ground and getting trapped by the cover. When the wind and sun cannot evaporate the moisture is when you get into trouble. I had an 8N in my field for 2 years before I got around to working on it and I left it uncovered. It was in no worse shape than when I got it. A better solution than covering is to take the same tarps and make a south facing leanto with some roughcut trees. The trick is to allow the item to breath...
