Had the same thing happen on my Stratus, but if this is a Ram . . .
My Ram's an '03 3500 with the whiz-bang dual controls, but as far as the drain under the evaporator, I don't think it's any different.
On the passenger side firewall, maybe 12-15" directly below where the accumulator lines passes through to the evaporator, there's just a little black plastic fitting protruding through, maybe 3/4" wide, sticking out not a whole half inch forward from the firewall. If his is laid out the same as mine, that's the drain he's looking for. looks like a bit of a flange with just a stub of pipe sticking out. It's likely more accessible from underneath, but if he can get a pick of some shape into it to open up any clog, that should get it started. What will usually plug them up is getting an assortment of bugs, dust and other debris in there that will float into the tube when he gets into defrost or A/C mode. Then once they flow in a little bit and get damp they start sticking together and growing mold. I expect you raised a bright boy and he'll understand that what he's trying to do is drag stuff out through the drain.
