For mine, I use nothing but white oak. But, its heavy. I like it for duability and rough cut for some traction. Be it a stock trailer or equipment. With weight a consideration, I'd probably use hemlock. Maybe get it planed since it makes nasty spliters. I dont like tongue and groove on trailers, too many water problems which turn into rot problems. I typically space stock trailer floors 5/8 inch green (makes them self cleaning when dry, may or may not be a good thing depending on your local laws) and other floors just touching green so when they dry they will drain.
