Excessive bearing clearance will start out high cold and fall bad hot.

Pulsating oil pressure is a bearing insert spinning and covering the oil passage.

We had a continental engine that ran for several years with single digit pressure, including silo power wide open for hours on end. In the end it exhibited knock with zero psi at idle, with good reason, i might add.

We also had a Ford Diesel knock with 50 psi hot. This was a spun bearing.
