I was working on a Schebler carburetor today (TRX36) and there is a hole drilled downwards into and through the flange that bolts to the manifold (into the throat casting of the carb). It is not one of the 2 holes for mounting. It is about 1/4" in diameter and this diameter goes down about 1" into the carb. There seems to be a little brass jet or orifice at the bottom (can't really make it out too clearly) that is obviously plugged (if it does go somewhere) since the hole holds liquid which does not drain off. Now, the manifold gasket 'dead ends' the top of this hole when the carb is bolted up to the manifold. At least the gasket that was with the carb does. I do not have the manifold to see if there is a matching hole in it that lines up with the hole in the flange. Is anyone familiar with what this is and what circuit it is from or leads to? I've never seen a carb with a hole in this location. Anyone out there solve this mystery for me?
