Just couple more things, that choke cable/rod is 50 years old, make very sure that the choke is open all the way when the choke knob is pushed in. Also be sure the air cleaner is clean, a dirty/plugged one can cause an engine to pull a richer gasoline mixture in, causing excess gas to run down the cylinders,,,,thats all.
