I'm surprised nobody brought up the 2 ag-related comments in that special. Before last night, I never understood how the young fellow got ran over by farm equipment. Apparently, he fell asleep under a neighboring farm's manure spreader. The farmer went out to hook it up and then pulled away. Certainly, it is a tragedy but I do not believe the farmer meant it to happen. The EM responder made the farmer seem like some kind of bumbling moron. I am sensitive to what is going on around our place (animals, kids) and always hope to never see something overlooked but unfortunately it does happen. The second comment was in the portion about the legal issues the promoters had after the concert. They said a couple neighbors sued over lost milk production and the man commented that loss almost should have not been addressed. Most of the individuals came off as self-righteous and self- absorbed on that program to me. I have no issue with them presenting their point of view but I have the right to make my own assessment and it is often said those that do not have personal involvement can lend the best perspective. For those reading this I would have been 5 years old when this happened. In everyday life from what I see, the well meaning altruistic hippies are nearly invisible to most of the public. If one wants to devote their selves to serving the public good, I have no problem with it. I do think we live in a time where we are much too focused on material things. For those thinking Woodstock was some noble experience, I do not think most people are picking up on that message.
