Rick, I just had to do that on the belt pully shaft of a Farmall F12 I am working on. The half moon woodruff key was sheared so that it barely was above the shaft. I ended up heating the key with a torch, and then used a screwdriver to get under one side and slide it out. The rust that was holding it onto the shaft also insulated the key so that as it was getting cherry red, the shaft was still much cooler - no glow at all. Worked in just a few seconds.
