I don't know your soil, plow, or your tractor. I do know that a few years ago I broke a small strip of red ground that had been good sod and grazed for about 20 years in West KY. I have a ford 6700 that's turned up a little and a 3X16 John Deere 3pt Plow. As long as I didn't get over 5 or 6" deep I could pull it, just had to steer with the brakes. I needed more than the 400lbs on the front than I have. Front tires were off the ground alot more than they were on it.
I chisled fertilizer in later and I could only take about 4' of an 8' plow at a time to get it down a foot.
