The continuing saga of the Cold GMC Tractor Hauler...

Well, today was one of those days..... Chip, T-Bone, Fred, LazyHorse, you were somewhat right. The thermostat had shifted to the side during installation and had a tiny crack on the one side where antifreeze could flow by. I'm amazed I didn't crack the housing with that ham handed move. Anyhow, Another new Stant 195 Stat later, and we have heat.... BUT........ After it warms up, if I am driving uphill or accellerating, or under power, I'm fine. But if I go downhill, or I decellerate, or just let it idle in nuetral, The heat GOES AWAY again, until the next time I hit the gas. All hoses are hot now, which is a wonderful thing. We also tried relocating the heater hose from the top right side of the radiator to the water pump. This required a new pump with a tapped boss on top and a right angle adapter to snake the hose under the fan belt tensioner. We still have the problem with getting cold at idle or decel, but the truck warms up much faster. I won't be idling a whole lot plowing this weekend anyway, so I'll live with it! Moral of the story: buy Long Johns when owning a 4.3 GMC when it is 10 degrees out! Thanks for all the suggestions, guys!
