Actually this country officially adopted the metric system in 1974, it really bugs me that we have to buy things, for example hose that is 12.7mm in diameter, It is 1/2", always has been, always will be, same with tractor linkage pins, 25.4 and 28mm diameter, it was designed as 1" and 1 1/8" not metric! Also I think this is the only place in the world where you can buy a 10gauge wood screw that is 50mm long. As far as money goes I think the 100cents to the Dollar comes from the Romans, not the metric system, hence the abreviation for the Hundredweight is cwt, even though it is 112lbs. Any way enough of this, summertime daylight saving begins tomorrow and I am going ploughing, I think I shall plough it out in lands 1 chain wide. (thats 22yards! lol)
